Nan Desu Kan

Nan Desu Kan (NDK) is an anime convention held annually in Denver, Colorado, usually lasting three days near the end of September or early October. The convention's name is a pun that combines the abbreviation "con" (or "kan" as used in Japan), a shortening of "convention", and the Japanese phrase nan desu ka, meaning, "what is it?": a phrase often spoken at NDK by new anime fans. The convention has a general format such that one large room is designated as "Main Events", with the convention's largest, most popular attractions, while several other rooms host events such as discussions and panels. Major attractions usually include costume, cosplay, and skit contests as well as Anime music video contests with prizes for all. There is an art room/gallery/auction where artwork is displayed or sold and on the last day the highest bidders take home the artwork. The convention also features a large dealer's room where various vendors of anime-related goods and services can sell their products.

Every year, we invite a number of industry guests from North America and Japan to come to NDK, including voice actors, directors, art directors, and others. Our guests put on panels, participate as judges in our contests, and hold autograph sessions throughout the weekend. They've even been known to hang out with attendees from time to time. And time after time, we hear how much our guests love NDK and our attendees because they keep asking us if they can come back!

Nan Desu Kan's parent organization is a registered non-profit, which means every dollar we collect goes toward making NDK better every year and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the con.
